Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: October 22, 2026
Website: https://www.africannursingalliance.org

1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the website operated by African Nursing Alliance (“African Nursing Alliance,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), available at https://www.africannursingalliance.org (the “Site”).

Please read these Terms before using the Site. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

Where a transaction or activity requires your express agreement, we may ask you to accept these Terms or additional terms separately.

2. Organization and Contact Information

The Site is owned and operated by:

African Nursing Alliance
c/o Mariatu Kadie Kargbo

EIN: 42-2327002

Email: support@africannursingalliance.org
Website: https://www.africannursingalliance.org

3. Purpose of the Site

The Site provides information about African Nursing Alliance, its fundraising activities, and its work supporting nursing and related charitable projects in Sierra Leone.

Project descriptions, budgets, timelines, and anticipated outcomes reflect information available when published. They may change because of funding, local conditions, partner capacity, regulatory requirements, or other circumstances.

We aim to keep information accurate and current, but do not guarantee that every project will proceed exactly as originally described. Changes do not override legally enforceable donor restrictions or other obligations.

4. Privacy and Cookies

Our Privacy & Cookie Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information and describes applicable privacy choices.

The Site includes a Givebutter donation widget. Givebutter and its payment providers process donation information under their applicable privacy notices and agreements. Our Privacy & Cookie Policy describes our handling of donor information received through this service.

Our service providers may process information in the United States or other countries, as described in the applicable privacy notices. Where applicable law requires consent or other safeguards, we will address those requirements separately. Use of the Site alone does not constitute consent where separate, specific consent is legally required.

Please do not submit medical records, patient details, financial account credentials, or other sensitive personal information through general contact forms or ordinary email.

5. Permitted Use

You may use the Site for lawful purposes consistent with these Terms.

You agree not to:

  • Damage, disable, overload, or interfere with the Site or its security.

  • Attempt to access accounts, systems, or information without authorization.

  • Upload or transmit malware, malicious code, or harmful material.

  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.

  • Submit unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, defamatory, or infringing material.

  • Collect other users’ personal information without authorization.

  • Use the Site to send unsolicited advertising or spam.

  • Reproduce or commercially exploit Site content except as permitted by law or with appropriate permission.

6. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise identified, Site content—including text, photographs, graphics, logos, videos, and design elements—is owned by African Nursing Alliance or used with permission from its owners.

You may view, download, or print reasonable portions of publicly available content for personal, informational, and noncommercial use, provided you retain copyright and ownership notices.

Other uses require prior written permission from the relevant rights holder, except where permitted by applicable law.

Access to the Site does not transfer ownership of intellectual property or authorize you to imply our endorsement of another organization, product, service, or activity.

7. Donations and Givebutter

Voluntary contributions

Donations are voluntary. Before submitting a donation, please review the amount, currency, payment frequency, and total charge shown at checkout.

Use of donations

Unless we expressly accept a restriction, donations may support our charitable purposes, including project activities, administration, fundraising, payment processing, and other reasonable operating expenses.

A project preference does not necessarily create a legally binding restriction. Any restriction must be expressly accepted by African Nursing Alliance.

If we accept a restricted donation, we will honor that restriction as required by law. If the intended purpose becomes impossible, impracticable, or fully funded, we will seek donor consent or another legally authorized resolution before using restricted funds for a different purpose.

Projects in Sierra Leone

Donations supporting work in Sierra Leone are received by African Nursing Alliance unless the donation page expressly identifies another recipient. Donations are administered subject to applicable law and any restrictions we accept.

A donation does not create ownership rights in a project or give the donor authority to direct project operations, select individual beneficiaries, or control clinical or organizational decisions.

Donations through Givebutter

We use Givebutter’s donation widget to accept online donations. Donations submitted through the widget are handled through Givebutter and its payment providers.

Your use of those services is also subject to Givebutter’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

No internet payment method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Fees and optional tips

Depending on our campaign settings, checkout may offer an option to cover processing fees or leave an optional tip supporting Givebutter. A tip to Givebutter is separate from your donation to African Nursing Alliance. Review and adjust the available options before confirming payment.

Your bank or payment provider may charge additional fees, including currency conversion fees.

Recurring donations

If you select a recurring donation, you authorize payments at the amount and frequency displayed during checkout, including any recurring fee coverage or tip you select, until you change or cancel the recurring plan.

You may manage or cancel your recurring donation through Givebutter using the management link provided in your donation emails. You may also contact support@africannursingalliance.org for assistance.

Cancellation stops future payments once effective. It does not automatically refund payments already processed.

Refund requests and payment errors

Completed donations are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or approved following review.

For an incorrect, duplicate, or unauthorized donation, contact support@africannursingalliance.org. promptly with the donation date, amount, and Givebutter transaction reference. Do not email full card or bank account numbers.

We will review donation refund requests and coordinate with Givebutter as appropriate. Refund processing is subject to applicable law and Givebutter’s procedures. Nothing in these Terms limits your legal rights concerning unauthorized transactions.

For a refund of an optional tip paid to Givebutter, contact Givebutter at support@givebutter.com.

Donation information

Givebutter and its payment providers collect and process information needed to facilitate your donation. African Nursing Alliance receives donation and donor information through the platform to administer contributions, communicate with donors, and maintain records, as described in our Privacy & Cookie Policy.

Tax treatment and acknowledgments

An EIN identifies an organization for tax administration purposes and does not, by itself, establish that a donation is tax-deductible.

A donor’s eligibility for a deduction depends on the organization’s applicable tax status, applicable law, and the donor’s individual circumstances. We do not provide personal tax advice or guarantee a tax benefit.

Donation acknowledgments will identify any goods or services provided in exchange for a contribution, where applicable.

8. Events, Merchandise, and Other Activities

If we offer event tickets, merchandise, training, or other services, additional terms may apply.

Relevant pricing, availability, delivery, cancellation, refund, and participation terms will be provided before purchase or registration. If additional terms conflict with these Terms, the additional terms govern that particular transaction to the extent permitted by law.

Volunteer placements, overseas travel, clinical activities, and professional engagements may require separate applications, agreements, qualifications, and approvals. Use of the Site or making a donation does not establish eligibility to participate.

9. Health and Educational Information

Health, nursing, or educational information published on the Site is provided for general information.

It is not individualized medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional. Accessing the Site or contacting us through it does not establish a clinician-patient relationship.

Do not delay seeking medical care because of information on the Site. In an emergency, contact the emergency service available in your location.

Unless expressly stated for a particular program, Site content does not award professional credentials, establish licensure eligibility, or constitute accredited continuing education.

10. Information and Materials You Submit

You are responsible for information and materials you submit through the Site.

You must have the necessary rights and permissions to submit them, including permission from identifiable individuals where required. Do not submit confidential patient information or another person’s sensitive information without appropriate authorization.

By submitting material, you permit us to receive, store, and use it as reasonably necessary to respond to your request or administer the activity for which it was submitted, consistent with our Privacy & Cookie Policy.

Submission alone does not grant us permission to publish your personal story, photograph, testimonial, or other identifiable material for fundraising or publicity. We will seek appropriate permission where required.

If public posting features are available, we may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

11. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Site may link to or embed third-party websites, donation services such as Givebutter, videos, or social media platforms.

Those services are operated independently and have their own terms and privacy practices. A link or embedded service does not necessarily imply endorsement.

We do not control third-party content, availability, security, or practices. This provision does not exclude responsibilities that applicable law places on African Nursing Alliance.

12. International Users

The Site is operated from the United States and may be accessed internationally.

Users are responsible for complying with laws applicable to their own use of the Site. We do not represent that every feature, transaction, or activity is available or appropriate in every jurisdiction.

These Terms do not exclude mandatory rights or protections that apply to a user under applicable law. Choosing Virginia law does not eliminate legal requirements applicable to our activities in Sierra Leone or elsewhere.

13. Minors

The Site’s donation and transaction features are intended for adults who have legal capacity to enter into the relevant transaction.

If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian should make any donation, purchase, or registration on your behalf unless a specific program expressly permits another arrangement.

We do not request children’s sensitive information through general Site forms. If you believe a child has submitted personal information that requires attention, contact support@africannursingalliance.org.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and its general informational content are provided “as is” and “as available.”

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, complete accuracy, error-free operation, or the absence of harmful components.

To the extent legally permitted, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

These disclaimers do not override express commitments we make in a separate agreement, legally enforceable donation restrictions, or warranties and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, African Nursing Alliance and its officers, directors, employees, and volunteers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the Site.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

These Terms do not eliminate obligations concerning accepted donor restrictions, refunds required by law, or other mandatory legal rights.

16. Responsibility for Misconduct

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify African Nursing Alliance against third-party claims and reasonable associated costs to the extent caused by your unlawful use of the Site, intentional misconduct, or submission of material that infringes another person’s rights.

This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from African Nursing Alliance’s own negligence, misconduct, or violation of law.

If we seek indemnification, we will provide reasonable notice of the claim and an opportunity to participate in its defense. We will not agree to a settlement that imposes obligations on you without your consent, which must not be unreasonably withheld.

17. Site Availability and Access Restrictions

We may update, suspend, or discontinue Site features for maintenance, security, operational, or legal reasons.

We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address misuse, protect users or systems, or comply with law.

A restriction or interruption does not cancel obligations relating to donations, accepted restrictions, refunds, or transactions already completed.

18. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory applicable law requires otherwise.

Subject to those mandatory protections, disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Site will be brought in a state court serving Fairfax County, Virginia, or, where federal jurisdiction exists, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Alexandria Division.

You may contact support@africannursingalliance.org to seek an informal resolution before filing a claim. Doing so is voluntary and does not suspend a legal deadline unless agreed in writing or provided by law.

19. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms as our activities, Site features, or legal obligations change.

The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will provide additional notice or request renewed agreement where appropriate or legally required.

Changes will operate prospectively and will not retroactively alter accepted donation restrictions or completed transactions without a lawful basis or the affected person’s agreement.

20. Severability and Waiver

If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the extent permitted by law.

Our failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not waive our right to enforce it later.

21. Entire Agreement and Additional Terms

These Terms, together with any additional terms expressly accepted for a particular transaction or activity, constitute the agreement concerning your use of the Site.

Our Privacy & Cookie Policy separately describes our handling of personal information. These Terms do not reduce rights or commitments described in that policy.

Separate signed agreements and accepted donation restrictions remain effective according to their terms.
